Donald Trumpâs New NFT Collection
Donald Trump has officially launched his fourth series of NFT trading cards, marking his evolution into the âcrypto presidentâ during this yearâs election campaign. Announced on Tuesday, this collection includes artwork of Trump dancing and holding Bitcoins in a promotional video shared on social media.
The âAmerica First Editionâ set features 360,000 potential NFTs minted on the Ethereum scaling network Polygon, with each card priced at $99. This represents the largest Trump NFT set to date, surpassing previous collections which sold significantly fewer cards.
Special Perks for Buyers
As part of the sale, buyers can access exclusive perks. Those purchasing large quantities of NFTs can attend a Trump gala dinner in September and receive a piece of the suit worn by Trump during his debate with President Joe Biden.
Sales Performance
Despite being initially mocked, Trumpâs first NFT collection sold out within a day, but subsequent collections saw a decline in demand. The original collection's prices dropped after the second release, with only about half of the third set sold to collectors.
Resale Restrictions
Notably, the latest batch of Trump NFTs will not be available for resale on secondary markets until January 31, 2025. Additionally, funds from the sale will not contribute to Trumpâs presidential campaign, as the project is managed by NFT INT LLC, which holds licensing rights to Trumpâs imagery.
Trump's Shift Towards Bitcoin
In recent months, Trump has become an outspoken advocate for Bitcoin, attending the Bitcoin 2024 conference and pledging to protect American miners and establish a national strategic Bitcoin stockpile if elected. His Democratic rival, Kamala Harris, has yet to disclose her stance on cryptocurrencies, but there are indications of interest from her campaign regarding crypto issues.
