Since 2020, the Lancaster Sheriff's Office (LSO) has investigated 18 cases of cryptocurrency scams, with losses soaring to $156,000 in a single incident. Chief Deputy Ben Houchin expressed concern over the emotional toll on victims, stating, "It’s very sad... their reaction is as you can imagine is devastation."
Significant Financial Impact
The Lincoln Police Department (LPD) reported that multiple victims have lost over $1 million in the past five years, with the highest individual loss reaching approximately $1.5 million. Sgt.
