Foundry and Antpool Dominate Bitcoin Mining with Over 56% Hashrate Control!

In a remarkable turn of events over the last three days, Foundry USA and Antpool have emerged as the dominant forces in Bitcoin mining, collectively controlling a staggering 56.7% of the network’s total hashrate. Since the start of the year, Foundry’s hashrate has surged by 75 exahash per second (EH/s), showcasing significant growth.

Foundry USA and Antpool Control Well Over Half the Hashrate

Data from August 24, 2024, indicates that these two mining pools have not only dominated the Bitcoin network but have also discovered more than half of all blocks in the past 72 hours. Both Foundry and Antpool capitalized on this week’s fee spike, which led to blocks being filled with much higher fees than usual.

Currently, with the total hashrate hovering around 651 EH/s, Foundry has contributed approximately 215.79 EH/s in the last three days. Over the past week, their consistent output has been around 199.02 EH/s. Meanwhile, Antpool, the second-largest mining pool, generated 153.55 EH/s during the same period, maintaining a seven-day performance of 162.55 EH/s.

Back in January, Foundry's hashrate was recorded at 140.26 EH/s, marking an impressive growth of 75.53 EH/s. Antpool, while growing at a steadier pace, started the year at 147.40 EH/s and has consistently held its position as the second-largest mining pool throughout 2024.

Excluding blocks mined by unknown entities, Antpool leads the all-time block discovery count with 89,726 blocks, followed by F2pool with 86,915 blocks. Foundry still has room for growth, with 41,987 blocks mined to date, but it is quickly climbing the ranks at its current rate.
